here's some pictures of the tunnels that used to connect the various bethel buildings after they stopped being used, as well as a diagram.. .

I'm just wondering how they handle these tunnels what with the buildings being sold to different owners. I heard something about them filling the tunnels in, but not sure how that would work.

then there was an interview with two longtime bethelites who were both asked about defining moments in their service.
the woman mentioned studying the so-called "deep" publications, and they showed these two on screen.ironically the one on the right was the book famous for saying the end would come in 1975, but that went over everybody's heads.
she also mentioned the day when the gb announced that multiple longtime bethelites would be "reassigned" aka canned.

Ironically the one on the right was the book famous for saying the end would come in 1975, but that went over everybody's heads. She also mentioned the day when the GB announced that multiple longtime Bethelites would be "reassigned" aka canned. She was confused because they had always been told to make Bethel their career for life, and now this. But she said it taught her that Jehovah knows what's best. Of she wasn't one of the ones kicked to the curb, so that probably helped.
The man here who was interviewed said he was baptized in Jan. 1975 (just made it apparently 😅) and his defining moment was when he married a young sister who was working under him. And here's the picture of him with his child bride.
(For those who can't tell: The black woman being interviewed with him is NOT his wife.)
we’ve all heard them all our life.
my two biggest stupidest ones i think are, “ we can really tell the end is almost here with the way people drive on the highway.” and a girl who said she wants to hurry up and marry her boyfriend because she’s scared if the end comes before their married, she’ll have to wait 1000 years to marry him.
oh and also a poor old lady saying that she hopes jehovah wipes away the memory of her disfellowshipped sons that he will have to destroy.
pontoon:
Speaking of Uriah and David, I remember one public talk that said they'd put on a concert together.
the following quote from the july issue of awake is in turn a quote from a secular publication:.
“the more children seethat they are part of something larger than them-selves—a family, a school, a community—the morereadily they perform acts of kindness that benefiteveryone, not just themselves,” says the book par-enting without borders.. .
this is what will be offered out in the ministry, in an effort to portray jws as normal, but it couldn't be further from the truth as they deliberately try to remove themselves from local culture, including non-jw 'family, school and community'.. .
“The more children see
that they are part of something larger than them-
selves—a family, a school, a community—the more
readily they perform acts of kindness that benefit
everyone, not just themselves,” says the book Par-
enting Without Borders.
Carefully follow the latest direc-
tions. Do we faithfully follow the latest
directions that Jehovah has given us? If
so, we will not rely on always doing
things the way we have done them in the
past. Rather, we will be quick to follow
any new direction that Jehovah pro-
vides through his organization. (Heb.
13:17) At the same time, we will be care-
ful that we “do not go beyond the things
that are written.” (1 Cor. 4:6)
just had to share... a former friend of my wife's, has just left our house, unbeknown to us, her and her husband have been inactive for about a year and a half, they have pre teen boys too.
she reached out to my wife as she had heard that we were apostates etc and needed someone to talk to.. .
after her father dying she was in a bad place mentally and emotionally and reached out to her cong for support, apon receiving 0 she turned to the bible for comfort only in her raw emotional state to realize that jehovah was a murderous unfair god and then her wheels of rational reasoning started turning.. she questioned things and was outspoken about things and attracted elder attention... long story short she wanted to connect with a friendly ear and she splurged she's never going back, the bible is all bulls**t and it's a cult, despite not knowing most of ttatt we all shared experiences and watched her eyes boggle at (stuckinarut... the first euphoric high) the un scandal, beth sarim, ray franz, 607, arc.
Wow WingCommander, sad but typical. Those friends who rented a van and took time off . . . What JWs would do that? They were far more Christ like than the JW "True Christians"®
jws often point to this, to show outsiders they are allowed to read the bible on their own without the publications.
although, as we know, the org still teaches that you will never progress along the road to life without the pubs.
and, i would imagine that what they learn/conclude from their own bible reading, must remain within the confines of current wt teaching, even on the most minute points of doctrine.
Great quotes there punkofnice

Did they get taken down? What were these videos about?

I've lost count of how many times I've read the Bible cover to cover of the decades, but looking back there was only ONE time where I really learned a lot: in 2016 when I wasn't wearing my dogma goggles, just reading it without preconceptions and going where the answers led me. All the other times were for the most part a futile exercise of a JW rule/custom that doesn't allow real growth in practice.
